Referred to often as a barn roof and similar to the Mansard style except the Gambrel has only 2 sides. Similar also in that it provides extra living space plus easy to frame out. The Grambrel roof is not recommended for heavy wind regions or heavy snowfall as the open design can cause collapse under extreme pressure.
